DAVID OLIUS JACOBSON

Son of Ole John Jacobson and Caroline Frederickson was born November 27, 1876 in Ephraim, Utah. David married Juliette Stevens, of Ephraim, in the temple. Juliette was born January 3, 1875.Three children were born to them: David Wells, Vernon and Marcella May. While living in Vernal, Juliette died of pneumonia. After her death David married Agnes Ellen O'Neil August 14, 1907 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Agnes, born January 24, 1887, was the daughter of James O'Neil and Mary Elizabeth Alexander of Midway and Vernal. Twelve children were born to David and Agnes. Seven boys and five girls: Florence Louise, Anthon Olius, Daniel John, Audrey Ione, Preston James, Verona, Carl Ivan, Ellen Julia, Noel Ray, Verdell LaMar, Hilma Leora, Gordon Howard.

David was a member of the 97th Quorum of Seventies, Ward teacher, First Counselor in YMMIA, farmer, stockraiser and beekeeper. David Olius owned the first threshing machine in the Uintah Basin. In the winter of 1928-29 the family sold their property in Vernal and moved to South Jordan, where they went into the dairy business.

Due to the depression in the 1930's the decision was made to move to the Dunyon Ranch in Bluffdale. On the Bluffdale ranch, they had cattle that included twenty milking cows and their calves. In addition to a garden there were potatoes, corn, hay and grain.

Even with her large family, Agnes worked as a practical nurse, delivering many babies. Agnes served as Relief Society President, Primary Presidentand in all musical capacities in the LDS Church. Agnes is remembered by many as an "Angel". David and Agnes had celebrated their twenty-eighth anniversary when she went in the hospital supposedly for gall bladder surgery and didn't recover. She died in August of 1935 at the age of forty-eight. Later, an autopsy showed that she had suffered heart failure, not gall stones.

David then married Rose Tanner, of Murray, Utah. Hilma and Gordan, because they were the youngest, went to Murray to live with their Dad and Rose. Louise and Audry went to Nevada to live and work. Ellen married Paul Miller and move to Bingham. Tony went to Bingham to live and work. Dan married Lucile Hardman of Bluffdale and lived across from the Hardman family in Bluffdale. Preston, Verona, Carl, Noel and Verdell stayed in Bluffdale. Carl got a job driving a truck from Utah to California. Preston would bake bread and cook meals for them. At one time Tony, Dan, Preston, Carl, Noel, and Verdell all worked at Kennecott Copper.
