Gordon Howard Jacobson "GORDY"  Gordon Howard "Gordy" Jacobson passed peacefully at Murray Care Center, December 31, 2002. Gordy was born Dec. 3, 1926 to David Olius and Agnes O'Niel Jacobson in Vernal, Utah. He was the youngest of their 12 children. Gordy worked hard as a youngster, earning his way hoeing onions and other crops for neighboring farmers. He left high school before graduation and joined the US Navy in 1944 and served aboard the USS Curtiss in the South China Sea. He married Kathleen Mary Clawson, Feb. 3, 1947. They moved to Ely, Nevada and with his brother Noel opened a spudnut shop. Gordy worked for Isabel Construction prior to returning to Salt Lake. He joined Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in 1957. His 30 year career included being a store manager, traveling salesman, and on his retirement he was District Product Services Manager. Gordy was an active member of the Commemorative Air Force, an organization dedicated to the restoration, maintenance, and display of World War II aircraft. His personal favorite was the B-17 Flying Fortress, known as the "Sentimental Journey". Gordy is survived by one sister; Verna Pease of Salt Lake, his four children; David (Donna) Jacobson, Patricia (TJ Mack) Shannon, Julie Jacobson, Susan Bolen, five grandchildren; Mary Shannon (Jonathan) Edwards, Davis Jacobson, Michael (Wendy) Neville, Jonathan Bolen, and Anna Kathleen Jacobson, three great grandsons; Kyle and Jacob Neville and Caleb Edwards, plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years Kathleen (Katy), great grandson; Britain Jacobson as well as numerous brothers and sisters. Gordy's sense of humor, innate skill at bringing out the best in people and his willingness to share his time and talents with others will be sorely missed.  The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at St. Marks Hospital, including the Therapeutic Care Center, and the Murray Care Center for their kindness, care, and compassion. Funeral services Tues. 1:00 p.m., Jan. 7, 2003 at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St. where friends may call Mon. 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Tues. 1 hr. prior to services. Interment Murray City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Commemorative Air Force, Midland, Texas and the American Lung Association.
